Payroll: How to deduct pre-tax meal for employee

https://www.mossadams.com/articles/2019/april/deduction-for-employer-provided-meals#:~:text=Employer....

Since the employee is our coffee barista/ cashier, and he take shift from the morning to the afternoon, the lunch break is short and it matches the description for employee-provided meals. Can you tell us how to deduct this amount (pre-tax) for our employee?

@lhuang Since you are talking about a barista I assume you are in a restaurant/coffee house.  These meals can be deducted 100% .  I would set up an employee discount under your discounts and have them ring in each meal and then do the 100% discount you set up.  You can then run a report at the end of the quarter/year for this specific discount to give to your accountant for the total amount discounted to be deducted.

Hope this helps.
