My first transaction was declined

My first transaction was an american express card. I entered the amout of 814.00. I then typed in the credit card number, the expiration date, the security code and the billing zip code. I then got a card declined message.

So I went to the online terminal of my old processor and typed the same information and the card went through without any problems. This processor reported that the security code and the zip code was a match. So I know what I entered was all correct.

Did I miss something or is there more information that I neeed to enter in square.

It is possible that you entered some of the information incorrectly in Square (it's easy enough to miss-key a number), but you can't provide it with more information than it asks for.  It's possible that the cardholder's bank had a problem with your account information, meaning it was concerned that it was a fraudulant transaction.  It was a large dollar amount and also a keyed in transaction, so that creates more system warnings.  We generally don't to keyed in transactions, so I don't know how frequently they get declined, but I've taken plenty of American Express cards without a problem.
