Marketing: Are birthday coupon codes automatically set for single use?

I am setting up a birthday campaign for in-store customers, and I want the free offer set to single-use only. How do we prevent the same customer from redeeming the coupon multiple times? Is the birthday offer automatically set to single-use?

yes, they are single use.  once redeemed it won't work again.
