Is there a USB option for the sticker paper printer?

Hi!

I recently purchased the sticky label printer:

https://squareup.com/shop/hardware/us/en/products/ethernet-sticky-label-printer

However, after setting it up at home before bringing to the shop, I'm thinking the ethernet option isn't going to work. I want the printer physically next to my square stand, but it requires being plugged into the router. It would be much easier if I could just use the usb version of this printer which I was able to find online: http://www.nextwarehouse.com/item/?4039667_g10e

But I'm worried that this model won't be compatible with the square stand/ipad. Would this model work? Has anyone else run into this and how did you solve it?

Thanks!

Ryan

@thenestcafe I prefer the wired ethernet printers for use with any of the square tablets/stands.  They are reliable and you can always add a tablet and print to that printer very easily.  So if you are using the sticky printer and lets say you can't run a ethernet cable from the router to the printer you have 2 choices.  The square stand does support a usb connection to star printers, but I haven't used this printer with that connection.  I personally would keep the printer you have as it is much more versatile (if your tablet or stand died you can still use it with a phone or android tablet, etc.)

I would purchase a tp-link AC750.  It is a little travel router for about 38$ online.  You can plug an ethernet cord into the little nano router and then set up the little router to connect to your network in "bridge" mode I believe.  I used one to share a secure connection with several devices so I didn't have to go through security each time I moved a printer.  This will eliminate the need to run an ethernet cable, and is exactly the solution that star sells to convert their ethernet printers to wireless ethernet.

I just do not like usb printers to be perfectly honest.  The usb and bluetooth are easy to get started, but the reliability of the connections is just suspect at times.  USB is great till something goes wrong.

Just my suggestion.

Thank you for the quick response and well thought out post! You make a very good point about reliability and your solution using the tp-link is exactly what I think we are looking for. Much appreciated!
