Is there a Kitchen Display System that will show unpaid tickets ? mainly the Dine In

We tried the Bump KDS has Square Support Team advised its just waste of money, it wont display the order until its paid. Dine In Customers wont pay ahead. Do you have any other solution? we use print for now but its crazy when you are busy

Hello @Sathish !

I know Fresh KDS will display tickets that have been saved to Open Tickets, and I'm 99% sure Square's KDS will as well. That's really surprising that Bump doesn't.

As long as you're saving the tickets instead of cashing it out it should physically and electronically print right away.

I tried Square's KDS yesterday, it works only in IPAD. We have Tablets in the Kitchen 😞

Yeah, that is a drawback with the Square KDS, @Sathish .

I know that Fresh KDS does work with android tablets. I picked up a couple of el-cheapo Android tablets from WalMart to try it out before making a hardware investment and they worked perfectly.

I have the Square Register and Bump KDS. Currently, the kitchen doesn't see the order until the customer pays. This creates a problem for customers who call ahead for their food. I would imagine there's a way to change this, otherwise, customers would have to pay with a credit card over the phone which would be a pain for all and not a very efficient use of time for the cashier. So (and I hope it's simple) how do I get the order to my KDS before the customer pays so the order can be ready when they arrive, and they can pay when they pick up their food? Thank you.

Just to add to the question: And if that's doable, the order would need stored somewhere on the Square Register so we can pull it up when the customer arrives to pay and pick up their food. Any help would be appreciated.

@prace1bYou can enable Open Tickets on your Register. When you get the call in orders, you can then save the ticket when the order is complete. Upon saving, the order will print/display on KDS tablets.

When the customer arrives, you open that ticket and cash out as usual.

Hi There,

Thank you so much for the offer! Fortunately, we figured it out. My software and what I saw on my screen was missing a few items that prevented me from going any further to solve this. I had to use my square phone app and computer square app to fix it. Kind of crazy.

Thank you,

Paul

Hello,

We tried to go through the process and were stalled by not finding the location to 'save' the order and then later 'recall' later. It's not under my 'orders' screen. Until they pay there's nothing there. I have the Square Register and not the iPad for our POS. iPads however are in the kitchen. We couldn't find where to save the customer and then recall later when they arrive to pick up the order so they could pay at that time. Could you please go down the step-by-step process, screen by screen? Thank you!

Hello @prace1b !

The Open Tickets aren't a part of the Orders section of the Point of Sale. You will need to enable them on the Register.

More -> Add-ons -> Open Tickets -> Enable.

Now, on your main register screen, you'll see a new "Tickets" button right next to the Charge button.

When you ring in a ticket you'd like to save, ring it in as usual. Instead of hitting the Charge button, tap Tickets, then New Ticket. Enter the customer's name here. Once you save the ticket, the orders will print.

When the customer comes in, tap the Tickets button and then the Customer's name. You can close out the ticket as usual then.

More information is available in this help file.

Hope this helps!

Thank you for your help and I believe I'm close but....

I'm on the Square app on my computer and I'm not seeing the 'More' choice anywhere

on my dashboard. Sorry to be a pain and thank you again.

Ok, because this was nowhere to be found on my square register, I decided to get out my Samsung phone that has the square app. There, I found 'enable open checks' under settings and went through the process on the register itself/devises, to enable. It looks simple and should work great, unlike the square software that's missing items on my new register. And yes, it's updated and ready to go. Verry odd.

Thank you again,

Paul

Hey Paul @prace1b

Yes, that is very very odd that your Register doesn't have open tabs. If you're running the base Point of Sale that should be built in. If you're running Retail, though, it may not be. I'm not familiar with the Retail app.

If you are running the base Point of Sale, I'd definitely recommend calling into Customer Support so they can do a deep dive and figure out why it's not an option on the register.

And, yes, the open tickets feature is only available on the registers/tablets/phones. You can't enable it on the dashboard.

Yes sir, it's all a bit bizarre. Thank you so much because if it wasn't for you, we wouldn't have the open ticket feature. I have square for restaurants and the register.

On the Botton right of the register screen I now have two boxes on top of one box. The top left says, 'Print bill'. The top right says, 'Pay' and the large bottom box says, 'View Checks'.

Thanks again!

Paul

@prace1bAha! There is the disconnect. Square Restaurants definitely has a different way of keeping tabs open. Let me tag in a few other Super Sellers that use Restaurants. They'll know exactly how to get open tickets set up.

@BeChewzy, @LLCafe , @Donnie-M can you give Paul a hand here?

I'm glad I could get you pointed in the right direction: these SSers will definitely help you the rest of the way.
