Is it possible to add an "Auto gratuity" to a bill, i.e. 18% to parties of six or more?

We are a restaurant that has a lot of seasonal customer and people from out of town traveling in large groups.  On our old POS we would apply an 18% gratuity to parties of 6 or more to ensure our tipped servers did not get stiffed.  Is there a way to set this up as a modifier to the whole check?

Quick update to this thread, with Square for Restaurants you can set up Automatic Gratuity to automatically apply gratuity to tables over a certain size.

To set this up you need be subscribed to Square for Restaurants, and then sign in to your online Square Dashboard to follow these steps:

1. Sign in to your online Dashboard at squareup.com/login.
2. Click Points of Sale > Service Settings > then click Automatic Gratuity.
3. Select the location that you want to enable this setting.
4. Toggle Allow Automatic Gratuity ON and enter the details.
5. Click Save.

We are a Paint and Party business, which also serves food, but not a full scale restaurant. so we dont want to switch to Square for Restaurants, we just want the auto gratuity for parties of 6 or more. so when is the solution coming FOR ALL? Every other POS system has it, so what's the hold up!!!

There's no timeline on this at the moment unfortunately. What you can do is create an item with a variable price with the name "Gratuity". You can then calculate the amount needing to be added and apply it to each payment accordingly.

Is there any updates to this? Can regular square customers who use Square POS add an auto-gratuity to certain tickets?
