Why do I have automatically created entries in the Square Directory for "cardholder" or "[bank] cardholder" instead of the actual cardholder names? Is it safe to merge them? It doesn't help me better understand my customers if I can't tell them apart.
Thanks for your question @WizardAndrew , as a fellow biz owner I've wondered the same thing. I guessed that the customer may have set a preference with their credit card company not to release personal information to merchants. I do not know if this is accurate or not; I have also seen their email address covered up, and I think this happens when a customer opts-out of receiving marketing or email messages from merchants through Square. Maybe someone with more direct experience would have a better answer to this question.
I however, probably wouldn't merge these together because even though they all say Cardholder, I suspect they are unique cardholders and not the same person.
