@Marjorie_Geigle There is nothing called a customer passcode in Square.
The closest thing I know of to doing what you want would be to use Marketing Coupons, if you are signed up for Square Marketing. There, you can create a coupon called “Birthday” (or whatever). Then you could share that code with customers. All customers would have the same code, but customers could only use the code once. When they want to redeem it, they would show it to your employees for them to key in, or scan, depending on your setup.
Go to Marketing -> Coupons to set this up. Once you are set up with Square Marketing, you could send a mass email to all current customers you have email addresses for.
Also, Square Marketing has option SMS Marketing, but you’ll need to thoroughly review their restrictions — for example, instructions for getting explicit customer permission to text them so that you don’t run afoul of federal and state text marketing laws.
