I am looking for something i can use to provide a membership to customers.

I currently have a mexican restaurant and i have been doing great. I am now opening up an icecream place and will be doing burgers and shakes so i know i can get be just as good or better. I want to provide a membership to customers, lets say $30 a month per person or $50 a month for family. Having a membership they will be able to get 15-20% discounts on either place every time they go eat. We have a lot of the same customers daily so it would benefit them a lot by doing this. I think i can get a good 100 people to do this every month. So i would generate good money just from this. Any idea on this or anyone that is doing this. I am going to open up another 2 different restaurants in town also next year so this would be perfect.

TL;DR you can do it, but it will require some organization and communication between your staff and customers. 

 

We don't have a membership feature right now, but I have an idea of how you could make this work. For customers that want to be included in this plan you could set them up on a Recurring Invoice to bill them automatically each month. Since you'll need to create a customer profile for the invoice you could create a group in your Customer Directory to pull all of the participants in one place. Then when a customer comes to visit your staff can verify their a participant by searching their name in the directory. From here your staff could apply the discount to a customers check.

would i need to set up customers on all locations or by putting it on one location will it pop up on all locations? Also for reacurring payment, can i automatically deduct from account with a credit card?

@Mexicanchef if you create another location on your Square Account the Customer Directory will display all of your customers and groups. 

 

You can automatically charge customers cards by using our Card on File feature!

how would i know if it was debited from their account? How long will it take to notice it got rejected? Thanks

With recurring invoices you can set it up on a four week cadence. If you select Card on File it will automatically display as paid on your Square Dashboard under the invoices tab. If their card declines the Invoice will be marked as overdue in red.
