How to set up my square register for multiple businesses in one location

Hi my name is Paquita. I am the owner of Blessed Divine Creations. I am opening my first store front this coming Friday. My store front is very unique as I have 12 other businesses in my storefront as well. I'm wondering that feature I use on the square register to set up my 12 other businesses who are renting space within my store front. I want to be able to track their sales separately from my sales. If anyone could please help me out, then that would be awesome.

Hello @Paquita ! Congrats on opening your new storefront!

Unfortunately Square doesn't allow for location/business switching within the program without first logging out and logging back in as the other business, which would be quite time consuming.

What I would recommend is to make each unique business in your store its own category in your item library. You can then put all the items each business sells into that business name category.

When you want to pull reports showing sales (and taxes owed), you can pull Category Reports that will show you everything that business sells. Funds can be easily distributed to those businesses as needed.

Hope this helps!

Ok so I understand not switching for location/business switching.  I want to be able to assign the vendor in the register so it comes up as Booth 1 Suga Baby Bling and Things and so on. So you are saying use categories.

Thank you for sharing excellent advice here @ryanwanner!

You would set up each vendor as a category @Paquita, by naming the category after your vendor's name e.g Suga Baby Bling and Things. You'd assign the items from this vendor to the category they belong to. You can learn more about creating categories here. When you add an item in your checkout, it will automatically record which category it's under, so your can run a Category Sales Report to easily track what you're selling.

Please let us know if you have any other questions, around reporting and categories, we're happy to help 😊

Thanks everyone for the great advice. It helped me so much. Things have been going well with setting up the vendors under categories.
