How to protect my square stand cords from breaking with use?

So my company has been open three years and we've gone through 4 different square cords, the one that connects from the square stand to the powe adapter and also contains the USB port. Is there a hack any square users have tried to keep the cords protected?

We see usually 500 customers a day, and spin them around for every interaction. Cord gets tangled occasionally but mostly they seem fine until one day they arent.

wow, that's a lot of transactions, that's good.  I don't have any tips as ours are still original cords from when they introduced the Square Stand, but we do about 10,000 transactions a year in a rather abusive greenhouse environment.

Hey @ABaker - what’s your setup like? If your stand is Mounted to your counter with the adhesive or screw it comes with, and you’re spinning the Stand just using the built in swivel, then the wire shouldn’t move at all and should not be damaged. You can also cut a whole in the counter and route the wire through it, which leads to even less risk of the wire getting tangled and ruined.

Here's a Support Document all about mounting your Square Stand:

Hope this helps!

@pessosices any recommendation on how large of a hole is needed to pass those cords through the countertop? I'm about to set mine up and want the cash drawer and receipt printer underneath the counter, with the stand and reader on top of the counter (obviously!)

Because it's an L shaped USB cable, it has to be slightly larger, but luckily the Stand hides most/all of it - I believe we used a 5/8th Inch hole.

Just don't block any of the hole with the mounting of the stand - otherwise you won't be able to get the wire out
