We use Square POS 4.79 to ring up sales and maintain inventory in our candy store. We scan UPC for all items, but some items just won’t scan, usually due to poor packaging. If we just directly enter the price then the item’s inventory count will not update. What is the best way to handle this?

you can add the actual item to the transaction by searching for it and adding it and the qty, then the stock will correctly be counted.
you can search in the top line on the phone app and in the items tab at the bottom on a tablet.
This doesn’t seem to work, at least not the way I expected. I’m using the Point of Sale app (v4.9) in an iPad in a Square Stand for iPad. There is no Items tab at the bottom of the screen and items found via the main menu Items screen do not get added to the purchased items list. Can what you described (add a searched item to be charged) be done with my hardware and software configuration?
