How to Issue a refund if the charge wasn't made to Square
I bought a business. I need to issue a customer a refund but since the charge didn't originate with my account, I don't know how to do it. Any help is appreciated.

there is not a way to refund to a credit card for a sale that didn't take place in Square. you could create a new cash transaction and refund that either by cash or to a gift card.

It sounds to me like you're trying to pay someone with money from your till, which is something you can do if you've set up cash management on your device. This would mean that you can also look at your cash drawer history to see where that money has gone - after all, it's frustrating to miss money from your till and not knowing why your float is down.
