It shouldn't take much time, hours not days. the probability is that the friend didn't actually use your link to sign up, they could have clicked it then opened a new tab and proceeded or a multitude of other options.
you can call square support and they can connect the accounts for the free processing.
it will show up here, and the transactions will have the fee taken out at the time of the transaction, then credited at time of deposit.
