Do I need a bluetooth device sent to me in order to use a chip reader on my iphone 7?

You can buy the chip reader that plugs into the headphone jack with the lightning to headphone jack dongle that came with your iPhone 7. 

I do do recommend using the contactless Bluetooth chip reader over the plug in one for durability and battery life. And then keep a swiper around for the people that still don't have chip cards.
