I'm not sure exactly, @katieand you want to jump in?  do you just cancel your monthly and your account deprecates back to Square POS?

Helen here stepping in for @katieand who is out of the office at the moment.

You can go back to the Point of Sale app at any time. In fact you're not required to delete one app in order to use the other! 

If you removed/deleted the Point of Sale app you can download it again from the Google Play or App Stores, and sign back into your account using your email address and password. Search for 'Square' or 'Square Point of Sale' to download.

I'm not sure but if you don't want to use the Retail app any more at all, you can manage (and cancel) your subscription to Square for Retail from Pricing and Subscriptions section of your online Square Dashboard. If you signed up for the 30-day free trial you won't see the option to cancel, but rest assured you won't be charged when the trial ends unless you decide to subscribe.

ah, that makes sense, I was thinking more along the lines of what happens to the additional data that items have when in Square for Retail and that would make it a bigger deal.  I knew you could run them side by side.  Good to know it is that simple.
