What rights do I have when someone disputes just to get their money back when they did receive good service/product?
Hi @midnightcaller8! Welcome to the Community.
I know how frustrating the disputes process can be. Especially when you did provide goods/services.
You should of received an email from our Disputes team with further instructions. That email will tell you how you can challenge a chargeback if it's able to be challenged and you can even reply to that email directly to speak with a Disputes representative.
There's a notification on your Dashboard as well that'll alert you of the dispute and that'd be the spot where you'd need to go to challenge it if it's able to be.
That’s all b.s. we have no protection and square won’t protect us when this happens. For us, this happened several times already. Customer get their food and then someone else call in to dispute and we submit what evidence we have like the receipts and the signature and customer bank of course rule in their cus5omer favor. Meanwhile, we lose our food and you take our money and end of discussion. No appeal no second opinion nothing. Can someone tell me if this happened to them and what we as merchant can do to prot3ct ourselves and lose money and products? This is very frustrating!
Easiest to keep disputes from happening on a Sale is to only accept cash. Now how to go after the customer for falsifying that they bought the products you could go after then in a civil case through legal means for theft of service or goods. Video evidence of the actual person in the store with Time stamp on video and receipts Time stamp and a clear picture of them accepting the items would all be needed so no question that it was them. Since the Banks are judge and jury in these cases they always side with their customer to keep them happy. So far we have been lucky, no one has disputed anything with us since we started with Square in 2019. This problem is not only with Square other merchant processing companies go through the same thing.
