I have a client that bought a gift card and forgot it when she came in for a session. How do I adjust the gift card balance for services rendered if the physical card is not there to swipe?

You wouldn't be able to reduce/edit the gift card amount without processing a sale. The customer can provide you with the 16-digits on the back of the gift card, which you can manually enter to process the sale to reduce the amount remaining on the gift card.
Alternatively, if they spent all the funds on the gift card, you can clear the balance of an existing gift card from your online Square Dashboard without processing a sale:

Can a square gift card balance be manually adjusted? We use a separate system for event registration and I need to be able to manually deduct a value from a square gift card. All I can see if the ability to wipe a gift card to zero.
