Employee login for payroll without iPad?

Hi - We're about to start using Square Payroll for a part-time employee. 

The how-to for the Square Payroll system shows people logging in and out of the iPad register, but we don't have one.

Can they log in on the iPhone Square App? Or on the desktop??
