Edit payment after its paid?

Is there a way to edit an invoice after it is paid?  We reach out after our events about gratuity and would like to be able to reopen the invoice and add the gratuity.  I feel like recreating invoices is a time waster.  Thank you!

@buffaloharbor At this time, I know of no way you can edit any transaction once it has been paid.  I did a search on this topic using the search field at the top of the Seller Community pages.  I see multiple requests for this, but no resolution.  Honestly, since the credit card transaction has already been sent to the customer’s bank, I’d imagine this is a banking related issue.  Restaurants are allowed to add a tip to authorized transactions, but ONLY those that have not batched out, yet.  Once any transaction is batched out, banks do not allow changes to them.

So, you have two choices:

  1. Do what you are doing and create a new invoice for the gratuity.
  2. Enable gratuities to be entered when the customer pays their invoice.  I realize that you want to communicate with the customer, get their feedback, etc.  But I can’t see a legal/technical way where what you are asking for would be allowed due to banking regulations/policies.
