Edit list of job roles

hi, how do I remove inactive job roles from the list my team uses to clock in? There are several redundant titles I want to remove to reduce confusion.

Hi @Mollys! Welcome to the Seller Community!! If you want to delete an old permission from your account, you will need to go to Team in your Square Dashboard, select the permission you want to delete (in my example below, it's "cashier"), and then click "Delete" in the top, right corner of your screen. I have a screenshot below of what this will look like:

You will need to complete this step for every role you want removed.

Is there a way to edit or remove Job Titles?   I understand modifying permissions/roles, but can't find anything on modifying job titles.

Hey there @Den_Distiller 👋

In order to update Job Titles you would do so under Dashboard > Team Members from there you would select the employee you are looking to modify and then under "Job and compensation" you can press edit and then from there edit the Job title. Here are some screenshots to help you find the right place. 

This is the Job and compensation area:

And here is the screen that will appear once you press the edit button:

Thank you for the detailed response.  I believe your instructions are great if you want to add a job title or change an employee's job title.  

I'm looking for a way to change a job title called "Prepping" to "Prep (Kitchen)" without adding an entirely new job title.  Any thoughts?

Hi, I wasn't able to find any help on this until I tried some stuff myself. It looks like you have to change the job titles for ALL team members, current and deactivated, from whatever whatever you want removed to something new. For instance, in the above example you'd have to change all "Prepping" employees to something new to get rid of the "Prepping" option all together. Hope this helps!

Would be great to be able to edit the Jobs, Square. Just feels cleaner that way.

Hello, @RebelFemmeSalon Thanks so much for this Request. In order to appropriately send these to our product teams we’d love it if you'd submit this request on our Ideate page for Square Team. Our team monitors these boards and we triage them to measure needs. You can search the boards to see if this has been requested before and add your use case if so!

@JJ_ Your Ideas board was deleted. The inability to edit jobs and roles in a proper easy way prevents third-party apps from importing employees and pay. In many corners the whole user experience is totally outdated and slow on Square. We will explore other options in the POS world because in 3 years we are using Square nothing has improved. And in at least 3 cases the whole Square network was down over hours and days so we lost thousands of dollars in non payments. You really need to invest in improvements or Toast will kill you.

Hey there @pebber  stepping in for @JJ_  I am sorry for the confusion, there were some recent changes made to our Ideate Board. You can now submit this request under Square Staff and Payroll. I understand your frustration and assure you we do take customer feedback seriously and have invested in multiple improvements in Ideate and our point of sale.  I am sorry this feature hasn't been developed yet and hope you find our other included features and business tools valuable enough to stay with us, though I do understand that you have to do what works best for your business.
