We use Square 3 times a year for 2-3 days at a time. We have a Surface Pro, but we have to manually enter credit card numbers if we want to use that one. With Black Friday deals beginning already, we are considering purchasing a new Android tablet that will (again) only be used 3 times/year for 2-3 days at a time. Any suggestions that don't require a contract to go with it?
@Estone I would look at any android tablet with bluetooth with a current version of android or within the last 2 years. I have some older tablets that are starting to get towards the end of their useful lives. I would recommend getting the bluetooth chip/tap reader though and if you use the headphone jack adapter, just make sure it has that. For $100, you should be able to take care of it.
But, you can also use your mobile phone for the app. Most phones are more powerful than the cheap tablets at wally world or Tarjay. I would do that and just pick up the dip/tap/chip reader if it were myself.
Hope this helps,
Donnie-M
Thanks for your thoughts!
Another idea is just to have a hotspot on your current phone plan and share that your 3 times a year to your Square android tablet device if you are not able to use a free Wifi service where you will have your location 3 times a year.
@Donnie-M @Candlestore For a little bit more background: We do use our personal phones currently but would like to add an android tablet so we don't have to. We have 2 of the standard Square readers with headset jacks and don't want to purchase new readers and we'll have a hotspot, so that's not going to be an issue. Plus, another app we also use is only compatible with Android, so the tablet we purchase will have more than one purpose. With Black Friday right around the corner, I thought that I would ask for suggestions here before we buy.
In the beginning I was using a 10 " RCA Android tablet for just processing CC purchases and not running the full Square Pos with inventory. It worked fine and was only like $80, 3 yrs ago from Walmart.
