Can I still swipe a chip card?

I am willing to purchase a chip reader but I will not be able to get it in time to utilize it. Am I going to be physically able to swipe a chip card on the conventional reader? I understand that there is a liability issue potentially but does that mean I will not be able to swipe a chip card?

yes, you can still swipe a chip card, but as you stated you will be liable for fraud due to the liability shift.
