Every transaction is assigned a receipt number (a four-character combo of numbers and letters), which seemed like a useful thing to ask my staff to include on hand-written invoices to have a record of the invoice being paid, and a way to pull up the receipt should we need it. But I haven't been able to figure out how to pull up a transaction using the receipt #.
I've been seaching in the Sales tab, under Transactions. The search bar appears to only accept the last four digits of a card, or a "note," whatever that is. What is the point of a unique receipt number if you can't use the info to locate the receipt?
When I visit the Sales/Transactions section, there's dropdown for searching by card number, item, receipt #, or note. Does yours only have two options instead of four? You should also be able to enter a receipt number in the Transactions section of the app.
I just tried the vertual terminal for the first time. My company already uses Square as our POS system. When I processed the charge it gave me a 6-digit number as confirmation. There is no receipt number. I can not see a way to look this up in case I need to find the sale later on. Please let me know how to look up a charge made from the vertial terminal. You can visit your Dashboard at Squareup.com. Click Transactions > click on the drop down menu to search by Card # and select Receipt ID instead.
This will give you the option to search by receipt. Let us know if you have any trouble finding it!
