Automatic discounts being manually added (Square Register)?

We're using automatic discounts for different specials throughout the day (Happy Hour/etc). 

The automatic discounts operate as specified but the discount can still be applied manually to any item in our inventory. Is that working as intended?

We'd prefer to leave those discounts operating in the background and not be available for manual application to items not specified. 

This is on Square Register.

That is the correct behavior for the automatic discounts, as they are just regular discounts that also have the ability to be applied or removed from the item or sale.  Maybe in the future, they could add a way to lock it out of being manually applied.  the only way, for now, would be to use restricted employee permissions requiring a manager passcode to apply discounts.
