hello @tranguyen and @RiseUpRefillVT
I am having issues with the new manual discounts and creating one that is category based. As you can see in the photo, I can't select the categories button due to the messaging saying automatic discounts by category are not supported for online ordering, but as you can also see, I don't have any of the automatic discount sections checked. Am I doing something wrong?
Side note, if I select it to be an auto discount for the POS, it allows me to select categories and then I can uncheck the automatic checkbox, but the discount doesn't function correctly as staff can add the discount to any category that exists, not just the ones am trying to limit it to. Please advise on how I can get this functionality to work as it would be very helpful.
Hey @backyard., I moved your comment to a separate thread so it'll be easier for the two of us to troubleshoot this.
This does look like a potential bug. To help us recreate this and investigate this further, can you let me know:
I'll keep an eye out for your reply!
Thanks for creating this. I'll answer the best I can
It definitely happens when I edit an existing rule. If I Click Discount Rules toggle on an existing discount, the "square point of sale and other integrations" is automatically checked so if I want it to be a manual discount, I uncheck that. Once I uncheck it, the "add item categories" grey out with the error I screenshotted before.
If I create a new rule, it does seem to allow me to select categories and save it, but the manual logic does not seem to be working as I can apply the discount to anything and everything, even if I didn't select it in the category selection.
I'm using Safari on a Mac. I'l try and create some videos to show what is happening.
Here is editing an existing discount and showing it's greyed out.
Here is a video of creating a brand new discount (it allows me to select a category) but if you ever toggle the auto discount for POS on and off, the category selection is greyed out as seen in video.
And here is a test discount I created for 10% off of the burgers category. Then I rang up a pint of beer (definitely not in the burgers category) and applied the test discount, it worked. Which for my understanding, it should not unless the item is in the burger category correct?
This is really helpful @backyard and thank you for all the screenshot/videos! I've passed this over to the team who look after this feature so they can investigate further and clarify the behaviour here.
I will follow up as soon as I have an update.
The team confirmed these are both bugs and they are working to roll out a fix. As soon as I have an update for when the fix is implemented, I will let you know @backyard !
Wonderful, thanks @tranguyen
