Feature Request: Self Checkout/Kiosk Mode

This feature request for self checkout or kiosk mode has been around since 2016 I believe.

Love the Square product and has been a game change for small business. It's time to get the App upgraded to include Self serve checkout/kiosk mode. It's 2022!!!!

I know there are third party apps that offer Self Serve/kiosk mode Apps.  Please don't contact me if you are a Third party selling their version of Self serve.  I'm not interested in paying additional monthly fee's for something I only use 2 weeks out of a year annually. 

I setup a "Booth" system for two weeks out of the year to sell my product in person. It would help speed up additional sales if I had a few iPads/Android tablets to handle the sales transaction in self serve /kiosk.

I would have sold more products and Square would have made more from me if this feature was available. 

Please make this happen. Look, it doesn't have to to fancy, just show the product and price variation and input your name/email and Tap to pay.

Do you mean you want to be able to take card transactions offline?  I believe you could already have several devices taking payments to your main account if you're connected to the network, but as time progresses we get less offline options not more.  The amount of card fraud is ridiculous.

You can record cash transactions now though ... not sure if that helps

No, we want customers to be able to use the iPad and scroll through items they want and self check out by taping their credit card.

We need the square app to have the ability to link to an images to the item listed we listed. The App needs to be able to switch to locked down kiosk mode so customers cannot change pricing etc.

Ohhhh hmm that is a pretty neat idea!  It wouldn't work in my particular business but I can definitely see that being helpful.

You can make an iPad a kiosk using the iPad itself - I believe it's called "guided access" and you can lock it so only one app is displayed, and even lock certain parts of the screen if you wanted to.  For Square you'd obviously then need to create a user profile for the customers with limited access.  Would that work?

A self-checkout or kiosk mode for the Square Point of Sale is not on our roadmap at this time. However, you may be interested in utilizing our Self-Serve Ordering feature. This will direct your customers to your online store where they can build a cart of items they'd like to purchase and then complete payment for their order.

There are also a few workarounds listed in this thread provided by your fellow Square Sellers that you may find useful.

You could do this with a square online choosing the in-store pickup options. And have the ipads open to the website. But it would be interesting to see an app developed specifically for self-checkout!

I do have a website with Square payment setup already for Online purchases.  It's not efficient when you have a dozen people waiting in line while they manually enter their CC. 

I'm looking for a Quick and efficient Kiosk setup so user can do the following on location.

1) search and select the items, add to cart/continue shopping or check out.
2) enter name/phone number/email address for receipt
3) "Tap" to pay. 

I've requested a feature request to allow a laptop / desktop computer with Bluetooth to connect to the Square Reader. This will allow people to use the online store as another option to "Tap" to pay.
