Accessibility support for partially sighted on Square Point of Sale app

I have an employee with limited sight who is having issues with the size of the pictures/items on the POS screen on our android tablet. How do I increase either or both to support them?

Hi @vincewak thanks for flagging this.

At the moment, magnification is supported on the Square Register and Square Terminal.

Unfortunately, this feature is not yet accessible on the Point of Sale apps. Increasing the tablet's overall font size doesn't impact the font size within the app.

Android devices do offer a TalkBack function however that may help here.

TalkBack is an accessibility feature that helps people who are blind or have low vision to interact with their Android devices using touch and spoken feedback.

Once you have enabled TalkBack through your Android device settings, your Square Point of Sale app will automatically work with this feature. Swipe left and right to select the elements on the screen, and double tap to select an element or button. For help getting TalkBack setup on your device, check out the Android Support site.

Keep in mind that TalkBack won’t be available when your reader is plugged directly into the headphone jack; you’ll need to use a headphone splitter to connect both your reader and a set of headphones.

You can find the steps to set this up here

Apple also have a similar function called VoiceOver for iOS devices.

I hope this information will be helpful for you and your employee.
