working with multiple individually owned sales units in a shop...like an arcade

We are setting up a shop that will have up to 30 individually owned sales units selling a variety of different goods .

We will charge rent and take commission on sales. We will not manage inventories at all.

We will just account for sales from each sales unit so owners know what has been sold and we will charge commission on those sales..

items for sale will range from pens to furniture.  What is best way of identifying each sale without having to enter a description? how do we identify these separate units in Square? Can Square manage calculation of 10% commission on each sale , and send summary to each unit holder monthly and also take payment...

..

Hey @nickdobson, I can see that this is your first post on Square’s Seller Community, wishing you a warm welcome!

Tracking commission and sales from individually owned sales units would not be something that we can facilitate at this time. This would require that merchants renting your sales unit have a sub-account linked to your main Square account that would be taking a percentage of each sale that comes through.

Each merchant would be required to create their own Square account under their own name and details. If you were to proceed with this, you would need to ask the merchants to send you their sales reports and calculate the 10 % commission manually outside of Square, which could be a tedious and messy workaround.

As for tracking sales without having to enter a description, you could create each item being sold into the items inventory. When processing a sale on the Point of Sale app or the Virtual Terminal, simply select the items being sold from the item’s list. The items being sold will then be listed in the sales summary report. Check out these articles on how to create an item in Square and how to manage your item inventory.

I hope the above information will be useful to you. Let me know if you have any other questions.
