inventory slow to update

I am using Square POS for our food truck and am using the inventory feature. At the beginning of the day I enter the inventory of each item I have available for the day. If we are busy it is possible to oversell items. Square inventory does not update in real time with each sale and keep accurate track of what has sold resulting in over selling some items. After the close of day when I go back in to the dashboard and look at the remaining count it is updated by then and showing correct counts. Anyone else experience this? The orders are coming to my KDS so that proves that there is a connection to the server. This has been a frustrating problem that is having look at other possibilities for my POS.  It is not good for my business when I oversell a sandwich and a customer has been waiting only for me to have to tell them that I dont have it. In order to save face I have to refund their money and give them another item for free. This inventory tracking problem has happened multiple times. I do not do any online sales so that is not a contributing factor.
