I have a first generation square stand with a 5th generation Ipad and I am constantly having a "connection error" issue when a customer uses the reader. Sometimes it will go through if I just use swipe or if I restart the app. But I don't want to have to always restart the app in the middle of a transaction. There has also been times when I restarted the app and I could not get back in for almost an hour on a Saturday in the middle of the summer! I have gone through all the trouble shooting square has suggested and I still have not found a solution. The device is connected to 5g internet and my phone/computer seem to work just fine on the same network. The ipad and app are both up to date with the latest versions as well.
Is the Square Stand connected to a power strip or surge protector?
From my experience the Square Stand works best connected directly to an outlet.
