The title of this thread has been edited from the original: If i use my phone to accept payment, how much can a client pay with an eftpos card.
Just wondering how much a client can pay using an eftpos card to tap on my phone? I've never used it before but my card reader is damaged so have to do nfc payments. Someone said to me they can't pay over $100 but most of our jobs are over $300
Hello @Spruce1! Thanks for reaching out.
Tap to Pay on iPhone has a per-transaction limit of $25,000 for mobile wallets (like Apple Pay, Google Pay or Samsung Pay) and physical contactless cards.
Tap to Pay on Android has a per-transaction limit for contactless payments (Apple Pay, Google Pay, Samsung Pay) of $50,000 and a per-transaction limit for physical contactless eftpos cards of $100 and $250 for all other card brands. These limits are a security measure set by the card-issuing banks to protect customers with these cards.
If you’re seeing a Reader Damaged error on your app, check to see if your device is eligible under Square's limited warranty and start the warranty replacement process on this page.
