I'm trying to create an event ticket and I've researched how to do this. But there's apparently supposed to be an "item type" drop-down menu on the create item page. It's not there for me. What am I doing wrong?
Hi @LindseySerata28. A common misunderstanding. You see, confusingly Square has provided us with TWO item editors. One is the main item catalog editor which you are probably using (at Dashboard > Items & Orders > Items > Item Library), and the other is the one that presents various options available only to items sold online (at Online > Items > Site Items). You want to be using the second one to create event tickets.

PS — as a shameless plug, I submitted a feature request here requesting that Square merge all item catalog capabilities into one master catalog with one editor. If you think that is a good idea, please follow the link and upvote/like it.
@TheRealChipAthanks! I also agree they should be combined. Second question, when I go to the "online" tab, it pretty much just offers for me to make a website. I don't have my website connected to square and I didn't plan to. Is this the only way to create an event ticket?
@LindseySerata28 Unfortunately, that does seem to be the case. You either need a square Online Store or to be using a third-party store that integrates with Square to sell event ticket type items. And I do not believe the free tier of Square Online will work, either, at least not at this time.
I’d suggest a feature request. But I would be surprised if this restriction changed, really. Still, if you want to give it a try, here’s a link to the Ideate Board.
