To keep your site published and remain on the free plan, republish your site to a Weebly subdomain >

Hi

I'm in receipt of a Weebly email suggesting that I move my site from my private domain onto a weebly subdomain.   Unfortunately I can't relate the instructions in the email to the site, nor can i find a How to doc.  i was never too techie but now I'm confused cos Weebly is now Square.

My options are

Edit site destination

Choose a destination for your domain
1. Connect to one of my current sites
2. Forward to a URL
3. Disconnect from my current site

What do I do to achieve something like the  my-name.weebly.com

Hey there, @Parrindi

Thanks for reaching out to run this by us, I'd be more than happy to provide some more information about this recent change.

If you’re currently hosting your site with a custom domain on a free Weebly account, you’ll need to have a paid subscription to avoid any disruptions to your domain and website.

When Weebly started, we offered free websites you could publish to custom domains. Although this process changed over 6 years ago, we grandfathered our original users into their original plans with the ability to continue publishing their free sites to custom domains.

In order to keep up with market demand, we’ve made the difficult decision to update all accounts to our current pricing structure — this means that if you publish your site to a custom domain, your website will need to be on a paid plan. You can learn more about our paid plans by selecting Upgrade in your account.

To keep your site published and remain on the free plan, republish your site to a Weebly subdomain by navigating to your Domain settings page and selecting Edit. Then, enter in your preferred subdomain and search to ensure it's currently available then select Change.

Lastly,  publish your site from the site editor to see your changes live.

Let me know if you run into any issues with these steps!

Hi Laurie

Thanks for replying so quickly.  I'm very clear on the why i need to change and it make perfect sense.  As per my post, I'd like some help determining what steps to do in the Edit Domain section.   The email and instructions above are slightly different to what I am seeing on the screen, unless I'm in the wrong spot.   Am I meant to be editing the Site Destination?   If so, if I wanted to set up my site as a Weebly subdomain.  Would I select 2. Forward to a URL.  Then enter parrindi.weebly.com?

Hey there, @Parrindi, apologies for the delay in getting back to you here!

Given I'm working from the steps that have also been provided to you, I'm a little lost as to what you're seeing in your Dashboard.

Are you able to send through a screenshot from your end once you navigate to your Domains page? Do you see the option to select Edit at all when on this page?

Once you've selected Edit, please also screenshot the next page so I can best direct you to the next steps.
