I've been using tap to pay for processing credit cards without too much problem. Now all of a sudden tap won't work.

TTP can be finicky on its good days, that's for sure.
Your best bet is to make sure all your software--both the app and the Android OS--are up to date. You may need to log out of your Square account and back in as well to reset its link.
I'm not seeing the zflip on Square's TTP compatibility page: you may want to verify your model on that page. If your model isn't listed, it's possible that you lucked out with making TTP work for you but it won't be stable for sure.
Otherwise, I recommend checking the help page for configuring TTP on your device and the FAQ page for possible other ideas.
