Tap to Pay not working for Discover or American Express cards

Every time we have a customer with a Discover or American Express card and we use the “Tap & Pay” method, it’s rejected and we can’t make the sale.  Has anyone else experienced this and how do you overcome it?

More info would be helpful - are you using your smart device with it and app setup for Tap and Pay only (no additional hardware) or are you using the Contactless and Chip Reader.   In our 12 years with Square, our setup has been an iPad with Stand, Square's POS App, a Contactless and Chip Reader, USB Hub and a Receipt Printer - the only type of card that has been an a random issue is the American Express all metal card (not their plastic version).   When we run into that particular type card, we Swipe it.   If just using Tap and Pay with no additional hardware, it can be sometimes fickle - ensure that your smart device has the latest operating system and you are using the latest version of the POS App.   The volunteers here are not the same as Tech or Customer Support but, there is a lot of hands-on experience here.  You may want to follow-up with Support if the issue continues.

They proposed a few great troubleshooting tips/workarounds such as swiping. If this issue persists, please let us know or reach out directly to our Support Team.
