Tap payments not working

I’m reaching out regarding an ongoing issue with my Square NFC reader.

 

A few weeks ago, I contacted support because the tap-to-pay feature stopped working and kept displaying “Present Card,” without completing the transaction. Square  kindly replaced the hardware, and the new reader worked for a short time.

 

However, the same problem has returned: the reader accepts chip insertions, but does not process contactless payments (Apple Pay, tap cards, etc.). It simply displays “Present Card” and doesn’t register the tap.


another thing the reader works when is ducked on the point of sale system but im trying to use it unducked 

I’ve already:

 

  • Restarted and re-paired the reader
  • Reinstalled the Square app
  • Ensured the device is updated and fully charged
  • Tried different customer cards and phones

 

can anybody help me

That is frustrating that the Tap to Pay feature suddenly stops working. I’m happy to help troubleshoot this with you.

 

1. What device are you using?

2. Please double-check that your device is compatible

3. Try disabling Tap to Pay and then enabling it again.
4. What app version are you on?
