I can't seem to find an answer, as split payment questions seem to be about 'splitting the bill' between people.
For example customer has an item £325, they want to pay £125 cash and the rest on a Card, when I go into split payment, and put in an amount the 'square terminal' is grey'd out and says "no split payments" next to it?

Unfortunately, the split tender functionality is not yet supported when the Terminal is connected with Square Point of Sale.
I can see how this feature would be useful, so I’ll be sure to share it with the team. You can also file a feature request here for added visibility.
In the meantime, you can either connect a Square Reader to your POS device or use the Terminal as a standalone to accept split tender payments.

We asked for this a year ago when we connected to the terminals to our stands. Still no update unfortunately. The only work around is using a square reader also connected to the stand. But if you’re like us, most customers prefer to see the amount and have the ability to enter a pin rather than just contactless.
We’re also hit with the same issue when it comes to refunds/exchanges. If someone needs to exchange an item for a higher paid item, the square terminal blanks out and you’re left with only being able to accept cash for the difference in price.
