Square App for Android says "Not Connected to WiFi" in spite of the Galaxy tablet being connected.

I am using a Samsung Galaxy tablet with the Square App.  The tablet is up to date.  I have downloaded the newest app from Google.  When I go to log in to my Square account I am notified that "Not Connected to WiFi" message pops up.  I am very much connected wirelessly to my secure wifi network due to the fact that I can use Chrome and other apps with no problem.

 

Please help.
