I am trying to complete set up on my phone. I am getting a message that Square needs device storage- Enable in Settings.
I have a large festival this Saturday and really need to be able to accept payment by card.
Suggestions please?
Hi @SDENNIS_Pyro. Without any specifics I can only give you some general things that could be happening.
First, it might be that you have an Android device that doesn’t support Square. There are a few of those because older devices and some manufacturers don’t give you enough “juice” to be able to run Square. Here’s a link to check out your device’s compatibility.
If your device is compatible, next try to delete and re-install the Square app. Sometimes something goes wrong in the setup where you are giving the Square app authorization to use various device features like location, Bluetooth, etc. Quite often deleting and reinstalling will fix the problem.
Lastly, this could be that you have a phone/device that just doesn’t have enough storage capacity for Square. Square POS on my phone over 400MB and I have a small product list.
Let me know if any of this works. I’ll see if I can think of anything else in the meantime.
Below are 2 ways to give android apps access to your devices storage. Top one is in text and bottom one Give app... is a youtube video.
Both these show how to access your Android device to give an app access to storage. Which Square needs along with a few more permissions. For some reason when I installed Square I thought the app asked if I would give it permission for these items. Maybe just try installing again and Grant access to Square as your installing the app.
