Setting up custom image ratio

Hi I am an artist/painter and need my pictures to be the right proportion and not cropped I have had several issues and managed to work round them over the first few days. The main one that remains is that when an item is selected the 'shop' image can either be set to landscape or portrait but not both. Is there a way to edit this?

Thanks for your advice

Hey @Twigg, great to have you in the Seller Community! Also thank you @tranguyen for tagging me in here.

To get around this I find myself making a project on https://spark.adobe.com in the 4:3 ratio I use. For example, the mock-ups for my new products were square and didn't work alongside my other products:

To get around this I added a bit of a border and displayed the full product layout on one slide, bit of a task but well worth it and it's efficient for the site... so that square image became this:

Now it's 4:3 ratio, Yes there's more white space, but it allowed to add sizes to the image to show how each one looks and it will work for my site.

Hope this could help, if it did, please mark this as best answer to help others in the future!

Also, hope you enjoyed the sneak peek at my new product line dropping soon 😎

Hi @Twigg, welcome to the Seller Community!

I had a look on my end and I don't think there's a way to have different crops for different product images at the moment with the Square Online site. I'm going to tag in one of our Super Sellers, @MJD who may have some tips regarding this.

Yes I could add white space on the top or bottom to make my images square. A bit of a faff but would work thanks for that idea

It's the only thing I've found that works, sorry if it's not perfect

Hi Guys, so I edited all my images so they are the correct ratio, if you have a look at below link as an example, the first 3/4 images, on the mobile site its perfect, on the desktop version, the bottom parts of the images are cut off, I have roughly 200 images with this issue, all which i edited to the correct ratio showing on Square. what is the point of going by this ratio if its not correct ? Any help is appreciated.

Hi @MUDE, thanks for your post.

I had a look at the image on mobile and desktop and I see what you mean.

Can you confirm your item image ratio:

From your Square Online Dashboard > Online > Items Preferences > Layout

If you do not have 1:1 selected, can you switch to 1:1 and let me know if the image is still cut off? If so, please let me know which ratio you do have set or tried and I can check this with the Square Online team.

Hi I've tried both options and no change, currently set to 4:3. If you have a look at the website editor everything shows correctly. However the website does not actually display what the editor does which defeats the whole purpose of the editor. I've noticed this is the case with multiple images as i had the same issue with background images but left it at that as it wasn't as important as product images. Would love for some kind of quick reolution as everything on square seems to be long winded.Untitled 1.png

HI @MUDE - can you confirm is the same issue that you described on this thread? If so, I can reach out to the Square Online team to take a look into this as the other thread gives us a better example.
