Restricting access to a square reader

I am in an organisation that has many volunteers using our Square Readers. Some of these people use Square Readers for other organisation. My concern is that if they dont log out of the other organisation, and log into my organisation, before taking a payment the money will go to the wrong bank account.

I was hoping that it was possible to restrict access to my Square Readers to only allow them to be linked to my account - something like, Serial number 123456 can only link to my organisation.

Is this possible? It would seem that a dishonest employee could set up their own Square account and then just take payments to that account without anyone knowing.

Any advice or assistance would be most appreciated

Cheers

Phil

Hey @Fishing_phil,

Thanks for writing in with this question and welcome to our seller community!

Square Readers don't store personal, or account data so even if a reader got lost, your account wouldn't be compromised. Readers can't be locked to specific accounts.

In regards to your staff potentially being signed into a Square account for another organisation, or their personal Square accounts - this is something you'd have to discuss with your team directly. It could be a good idea to invest in a phone or tablet that stays on-site so that all volunteers use one device that's signed into the organisation's account, rather than using their own phones where they could be more prone to not checking which account they're signed into. Find our list of compatible devices here
