Quickbooks Integration Error Message: ""There is no income account associated with the item"

The title of this thread has been edited by a Square Moderator from the original: "Square and Quickbooks Integration App Error Message"

I am getting the following error message and can't seem to resolve.

We couldn't Add the transaction(s) due to "There is no income account associated with the item \". Check account mapping in advanced settings and try again.

Can somebody give some guidance on resolving.  Worked with quickbooks and they could not resolve.  Guided me back to Square for mapping guidance.

When you sell items the revenue created has to be mapped in QBs to an Income account in your Chart of accounts.  For me being in retail in my Accounting software my Income account is Product sales.  I am not sure what it is for you with Quickbooks.  Below is an AI generated response about settting up an Income account in Quickbooks.   You may also want to talk to your accountant or bookkeeper about setting this up for your situation correctly.

In QuickBooks, the Sales income account is the account where sales revenue is recorded. This account is typically a sub-account of the main "Income" account within your Chart of Accounts. It's used to track sales of both products and services.

Here's a more detailed explanation:

1. What it is:
  • The Sales income account is a place in QuickBooks where you record the money your business earns from selling goods or services.

  • It's a crucial part of your income statement, showing your business's revenue for a specific period.

2. How it's used:
  • .Opens in new tab
When you sell a product, the sales amount is recorded in the Sales income account.
  • Services:
    .Opens in new tab
If you offer services, like consulting or repairs, the income from those services also goes into this account.

3. Setting it up in QuickBooks:
  • You'll find the Sales income account within your Chart of Accounts, which is a list of all your business accounts.

  • Creating the account:
You can create a new income account or sub-account within QuickBooks to track your sales.

  • When creating the account, make sure the detail type is set to "Sales of Product Income".

4. Importance:
  • Accurate financial reporting:
    .Opens in new tab
The Sales income account helps you accurately track your business revenue and prepare accurate financial statements, including income statements and balance sheets.
  • Tax preparation:
    .Opens in new tab
This information is essential for tax preparation, as it helps you determine your business's taxable income.

5. Examples:
  • Selling inventory:
    .Opens in new tab
If you sell widgets, the sales amount for each widget sale would be recorded in your Sales income account.
  • Providing services:
    .Opens in new tab
If you offer consulting services, the money you earn from each client would be recorded in this account.

Hi @longrow

Did you just start using/set up the QB and square integration?  Are the banks used for Square corrected listed in QB.  I had this error once before when I forgot to Swtich from one bank to my other bank in Square settings of QB.
