PST and GST in BC - Inability to apply differently to different products

In British Columbia we have GST and PST which are applied differently to different products (for example, GST is applied to children's clothing, but not PST).
I have tried everything and cannot get one of our tax settings and cannot setup two tax codes for one province. It seems to be 'all or nothing'. There is no way to correctly charge the taxes.

Hi @BCGirl!

I'm in Ontario and run a food business (bakery) so we're in a similar boat to you!

If head into Square Dashboard -> Account & Settings -> Business -> Sales Taxes, you'll see a screen similar to the one below:

I don't typically have all three taxes active, but I created GST and PST for the sake of the example by clicking on "Create tax" in the top right corner. Now all 3 taxes are loaded on to my account.

If I go to Square Dashboard -> Items -> Create new item, I get the pop up below when I click on taxes. Now I can determine which taxes apply to this new item.

If you're keen on editing an item you've already created, then you can search for that item, click "Edit" and then click on the "Taxes" info. You'll get a similar screen to when you create an item, and you can edit which taxes apply.

I hope that helps! Let me know by tagging me in your reply (type "@" and my username). I'm also happy to help if you have any other questions!
