I was at a fair and the internet was not so good. One of my transaction was off line sales. But I got back on the internet soon after. At that point there was an email (which I did not read until 3 hours later). The message was "We were unable to process $xxx that was accepted while your device was offline."
I contacted the agent and she was not able to tell me who the customer was but said she can send her an email. (I am actually doubtful that she actually did send an email....)
I have not heard from the customer.
Can I get Square to charge the customer's credit card again? If it was not the faulty credit card and no issue with the internet, it should go through. I have heard that worked for some of the other users.
That is an unfortunate risk of offline sales. There is no way to know if a card will be accepted or declined once you get back online. I personally never use offline mode ever because I know that 10-20 times a day a customers card get'd declined and at an average of $112 per sale I can't be racking up declines that I can't ever get back.
