Oblast and Phone number problem when setting up account?

Trying to set up to use Square. This should be real simple but I cannot find any information about this thing called 'Oblast'? It's all Russian or other country locations and makes no sense.

 

Secondly, why is my phone number truncated and cut short? No matter how or what I put in the area code is cut by one number which then gives an error on setting up, what's the deal?

Tried the link you provided, the same thing. And the Oblast (whatever that is) is still Russian something, and phone number will not accept 10 digits, only 9.

This is certainly odd, @SaltyFly. Sorry troubles have brought you to the Seller Community!

 

You may need to do some browser troubleshooting, as it sounds like your browser may think you are in Russia.

 

What kind of web browser are you using to sign up? Let's try running through the tips on this page first, and let us know if you're still not being routed to the US signup page.

Hello Valentina,

First of all, thank you for the help. I did go through your tips by the way. Something weird is going on and I am an experienced, technical user.

I am using Chrome which is up to date Version 90.0.4430.85 (Official Build) (x86_64).

I cleared the cache, and made sure and am logging into; https://squareup.com/us/en

After doing this I still see the 'Oblast' with the location information I'm trying to input and the phone number will not accept the 10 digits as before, always truncating the first number. Also, in the other area of the Dashboard, I do see English is the preferred language and New York is the time.

Question for you please: 

Should I have set up from scratch through my iPhone, and not through the online website?
