NEW POP UP AFTER TRANSACTIONS

We're getting a new "pop-up" box on the square terminal after every transaction. Never seen it before. Makes the cashier press "new sale" to get past this box. How to turn this OFF???

Hi @ReStore-CGHFH.  You didn’t say, but I’m assuming that you are using your terminal in Connected Terminal mode, as a customer-facing payment device for your POS?  If so, the final screen with the check mark and “New Sale” has always been there.  I’ve been complaining about it for over a year, now.

 

Usually it times out after 30 seconds.  But, if you are running back to back sales and it doesn’t time out, your cashier will have to hit New Sale to allow the next sale to be sent from the POS.  Trust me, in the height of ice cream season on a busy Saturday night this can be frustrating, I know.  Unfortunately, at this time there is no way to turn that off.

I'm not sure what the "customer-facing payment device" means.  I have the original Square terminal setup (customer has their own screen and my cashier has their own terminal/screen).  I've used this same terminal for probably 6 years and I've never seen this message pop up before (on the cashier side).  We haven't made any changes.  This new pop-up just "started" with the first transaction of the day, a couple of mornings ago (when most of our overnight updates forced by Square start getting buggy!)

Ok.  You have Register, then.  There is a separate product called Square Terminal.  I was confused when you said in your original post that the new popup box was on Square Terminal.  

 

Now that I know your issue, yes there seems to have been something added to the transaction flow on Square Register.  You are not the first person to complain about it, but at this time I have not heard of any known workaround.  I’m going to tag someone who might be able to look into it for you.  But, for now, it is what it is, I’m sorry to say.

@ReStore-CGHFH  This thread looks like a duplicate to another thread. I’ve asked a moderator and other Super Sellers to look into this. They will answer on that other thread. You only need to post on a topic once in the community, please. 

And for anyone who sees this, the question is not about Terminal. It is about Register.

We have always had this so i think it's probably a setting that has toggled with a recent update. I'll take a look at ours today and see what I can find.

FYI: I misspoke in my original post.  We have the larger Square REGISTER (not Square Terminal).

I get that pop up too but it has always been there for me. When I get to work tomorrow I’ll look through my setting to see if it turns off or on. 

it seems some people have it and some don’t. So there must be a way to make it go away.

It’s in the settings. I believe it’s in checkout. It’s a pop up that allows you to view the customer information in case they have questions. It says “ view customer/ new sale” if faster check out is desired then go to checkout/ settings and you should see a button to toggle that’s says “ go to new sale “
