Missing review pane on new Square App

Hello,

 

We are running the Square POS app on iPads.  The latest update removes the review pane on the right side unless you click a button on the bottom.  This adds an extra click to every transaction, plus you can't quickly review the order.  We really hate this and would like a setting so you could leave the review pane on all the time.  Is this bothering anyone else?  Am I missing something?

LOL. Actually, we are using the same version.  So, I dug a little deeper and learned something about POS I never knew until today! (I love it when that happens. Ha!)

 

I’m going out on a limb here and guessing that you have your POS in portrait orientation, not landscape.  What you are seeing is a portrait orientation layout.  At least, that’s what the help says.  (See screen shot).  Did I guess correctly?

Hi @WE_Golf.  I just checked my iPad POS app and it looks the same as it always has.  (See screen shot).  Can you post a screen shot of what you are seeing?  I’m trying to figure out where to go with your problem.

Thanks for your reply.  Below is a screenshot of the app.  In order to see what items have been added to the sale you have to hit the review sale button at the bottom.  Another strange thing is the this "feature" comes and goes.  If you restart Square it usually reverts back to the old format.  Any help would be appreciated.

That is so weird.  I can not seem to find anything that would cause that to happen to begin with.  You aren’t in a beta test of some kind, are you?

 

Anyway… what pops up if you click the three dots in the upper right corner?  Since I don’t have those, I don’t know what’s there.

I don't believe I'm in a beta program.  It's really strange that it comes and goes.  Here are the three dots expanded. Thanks again for looking at this.  It gives me hope that Square isn't going to force everyone to this new format.

You got it!  That’s exactly what it’s doing. We have always run in landscape, but there must be something in the new version of the app that causes it to think it’s in portrait. I locked the screen at the OS level so hopefully that’s the last we see if it. Thanks!

I messed around with mine a little. Turning it back and forth. I’d suggest turning the lock off, rebooting it, and then restarting the app and doing that a couple of times. Maybe even deleting and reinstalling the app. That should fix whatever blew its brains out. Lol

 

Of course of what you did works, maybe you’re better off not poking the bear. Lol

It looks like locking the screen didn't keep us from randomly going into portrait mode.  We can get it to fix itself by closing the app and relaunching it.  Sometimes we have to do this 2 or 3 times, but eventually we get the correct screen.  I'll try reinstalling the app today and see if that fixes it.
