Minimum spend coupons

I want to create a coupon that allows a customer to make a $100 purchase to receive a free item.

I can set up the free product, but i can't set up the $100 minimum spend anywhere. I want the customer to reach this threshold before the item is discounted for them. Is there any way to do this? Maybe a 3rd party plug in or some code you add for me?

Hello @LadyCobraa thanks for your post. Are you looking for a coupon for an ONLINE store, or in person? FYI the way Square handles this is two separate ways; one is called discounts and the other is called coupons. Here is some more info on ONline Coupon codes if that is what you are looking for; note there is a section under "What to discount" where you can specify the minimum to qualify. I hope this helps answer your question.

As mentioned above, for your Online Store, you will be creating a Coupon in order to discount your item costs. Additionally, you'll want to use the "Orders over a certain amount" setting to specify the rules for this coupon. 

The coupon is only valid when the order total is over a specific amount you enter. The amount is inclusive, so if the coupon is valid on orders over $100 and the order amount is exactly $100, the coupon will be valid.

@_Violet I can set the dollar amount they have to spend, but I cannot set the item to be discounted. I want to do both things.

"Spend 100 and get a free BBQ Sauce" i want the system to recognize the customer reached the minimum spend, and add the BBQ sauce to the order for free. Or the customer adds it, but it is automatically free.

I don't want a discount on the entire order only specific items when the customer reaches the minimum spend.

Hello @LadyCobraa sorry for the delay. Thanks @_Violet for stepping in here. You can't do both on an online coupon as you've figured out... You can set up a coupon for a free item (set at 100% discount) but you can't specify a min spend amount. Sorry but I think this is a limitation on online coupons. The only workaround I can think of is to mention your offer, and manually add the item to an order. The system won't do it for you in this circumstance.

The other option that may work is to use Loyalty and create an offer where customers can use their "points" they earn on previous purchases toward a free item.

@HC_Charlie Is this something that i can set up with an outside plugin? Can someone write some code to have this feature? It seems like a no brainer to have it available.

@LadyCobraaI am not aware of any plugins for this, but you can search the app marketplace if something may be available for this. I did not find anything in my search.
