Can I use a Lenovo M9 with a square card reader?
The M9 does not appear on the list of supported devices.
Hi @FOJW,
We strongly recommend only using tested devices from the Compatibility Page. If your device is showing as untested, we may not have any data available for that particular device.
Certain Android devices may meet all the requirements for compatibility, but still not communicate properly with Square hardware or the app. While we can't confirm timelines for new devices being added to our compatibility page, you can continue to check back in for any updates to compatible devices in the future.
It's been a year, any possible update on Lenovo M9 being compatible? Bought one thinking it would work and am now stuck with it, and to confirm, it DOES NOT WORK. The tab will connect to the reader, but then when it tries to communicate with Square Services the app times out and freezes.
We Just bought this tablet because it seemed like a good one from a reputable brand and it seems to Not be working properly with Square or something else is wrong with it, not sure! It bugs out and doesn't want to accept the PIN to unlock the tablet to begin with after we're done setting everything up. So frustrating. Square we wish your new little smartphone style terminal without built in printer was the cheaper option, what the heck? We don't pay near that much for our personal cellphones in this house we are not iPhone people $400 is a lot of money! And we don't want to waste our investment in our receipt printer and card reader by buying the all in one unit.
We have been using a Samsung 7" tablet for a few years now but not sure why apps have to get more and more slow and bloated as the years go on just to do a simple task so we're forced to buy a new tablet.... We don't need all the merchandise features personally we just want a dumb terminal to charge cards but with the flexibility of the smart phone app cash app etc. and not paying additional flat service fees per month to anybody. Make a Square Lite app lol
I think it goes without saying that Square has nothing to do with the 3rd party hardware. I also had this problem with the Lenovo M9, I had to do a factory reset and then just not program any screen lock at all, and then I had no problems. I have been running the M9 for just over 6 months and have been happy with it.
